On Repeat

Music has always been one of my favorite things. I love playing it while I'm in the shower, on a road trip for sure, and while I'm working on blogs! I have a VERY diverse playlist. You'll find anything from the High School Musical soundtrack to "Whatta Man" by Salt-N-Pepa. I tend to cling to different songs and different genres according to what phase of life I'm in. For example, when we first moved to New Orleans I was obesessed with the Frozen 2 soundtrack. Songs like "Into the Unknown," "Some Things Never Change," and "When I Am Older" got me through the unknown of living in a new city and my whole world being turned upside down. Often, I find that music knows how I'm feeling before I even do! I've been listening to A LOT more music since #quarantine and it's helped me to calm my anxieties, decipher what my heart is feeling, and move forward from the fear that was holding me back. Music has helped me SO much, and I want to share my current playlist with YOU. These are just a few songs that I have listened to almost daily. You may already know some of these, or they may be completely new, but I hope that they can bring you some joy and happiness like they have me!

1. "The Blessing" by Kari Jobe, Cody Carnes, and Elevation Worship

THIS SONG. It is so special to me. My Mimi prayed this prayer over Joseph and me on our way to the church on our wedding day. So, obviously this is #1 on my list, but not just because of that sweet memory. It is truly perfect for this season of life. It is a blessing straight from scripture, and I have found myself literally praying this prayer over my family. It talks about God being with you through everything and going before you in life. It's a sweet song to calm your fears about the virus that is taking over our country and the worry about what will come tomorrow. When I don't have the words to say, this song is great to incorporate in your prayers.

2. "You Are My God" by Highlands Worship

#2 on my list is this sweet reminder of how great our God is. It speaks of His love and how His presence is enough for us. Now, this sounds terrible, but I often "forget" how BIG God is. My human brain tries to put Him in a box and take things into my own hands. This song puts life back into an eternal perspective. My favorite lyrics are...

From age to age, You stay the same

Your promises remain

You are God, You are God

From death to life, You made a way

Forever I will say

You are God, You are God

This reminds me that God is not surprised by what is happening today. He is the same God that delivered the Israelites from Egypt and HE WILL deliver us from this virus. He saw this coming.

3. "Let Praises Rise" by Todd Galberth

I get so excited every time I hear this song. It reminds my soul of it's true purpose and that is to always point back to Him. In everything I do, I want God's love and light to shine through. During a time where my fears are running rampant and I am so worried about me, my job, my life, my family, my wants, and my needs, I'm brought back to reality that He is still using me in quarantine. God is still working in our stillness.

4. "It is Finished/Surrounded" by Passion

This is such a good song to just worship to! It is a declaration of who He is and what He has done in our lives. The best way to combat fear, anxiety, and depression is with praise and declaration. I use this song to just thank Him for who He is and to glorify Him. Sometimes worship releases all weight from your shoulders and centers your life again.

I hope you can rest in these songs this week. If you want to listen to these songs and more, check out my playlist. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7eyQJsh1zK35gpKrSDPvwj?si=8THVk0XOR2mQ3ppHKDlBjw

Sometimes our soul needs a refresher and worship is a great way to do that. Our Soul Purpose is strengthened when our cup is filled and we are resting in His promises. Share this blog on your stories on Instagram, Facebook, or send it in a text or email to help others find rest this week as well. I love you and I pray that we all find true peace in Him this week.
